On Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 3pm, Campus Security were requested to attend Totem Park residence on account of an individual making a nuisance of himself at the front desk and making nearby students uncomfortable.

The male was evasive with Campus Security who in turn called the police. Upon arrival of the RCMP, the subject became cooperative and forthcoming. On confirming his identity, a records check revealed that he has a criminal record with a number of conditions. The subject was asked to empty his pockets by the RCMP and while doing so, was found to be in possession of a knife which his Court conditions specifically prohibits.

The subject was arrested for breach of his court conditions and was released on a promise to appear before a court with conditions that he not return to the campus. No charges have been confirmed at this stage.

The subject is a 38 year old Caucasian with a Russian accent, fair complexion, average height and weight. He was wearing a brown leather jacket and black toque.

This is to inform you that there was an attempted break-in at the lockers at Sopron House at 0320 hours on November 4, 2015.. A witness intervened and a struggle ensued. Both Campus Security and the RCMP arrived and the subject was subdued. The RCMP arrested the individual for being in possession of stolen items and for outstanding warrants.

What is the purpose of these Safety Updates?
Safety Updates are issued as part of UBC’s commitment to providing transparent campus crime and safety-related information to the campus community.

This is to inform you that there was a break-in at the Medical Research Centre at 2222 Health Sciences Mall. It was discovered at 11.40 am November 8, 2015. A number of computers and equipment were stolen. While the area is not alarmed, there were no signs of forced entry
