First Aid

Campus Security responds to all First Aid calls for students, faculty, staff, student-staff, and visitors on the UBC Vancouver Point Grey campus. Our patrol officers are Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA2) certified and will respond and provide initial care and implement any critical interventions up to the scope of their training until paramedics arrive on scene. All medical emergencies should continue to be directed to 9-1-1.

Campus Security provides emergency support, first aid response, and helps to guide emergency responders (fire, ambulance, police) to the right place on campus quickly.

  • For faculty, staff, and student-staff, please dial 604-822-4444

In the event of a medical emergency, first call 9-1-1 and then call Campus Security for First Aid.

Medical Emergencies

Medical emergencies range in severity and may include: cardiac arrest, serious falls, signs of illness, exposure to hazardous material, loss of consciousness, and more.

In an emergency, call 9-1-1. Then call Campus Security at 604-822-2222 for students and visitors. For faculty and staff, please call 9-11 and then call 604-822-4444. Campus Security will provide urgent assistance and first aid 24/7. 

injured or become ill on campus

Any injury or illness must be reported to Campus Security which provides first aid treatment. 

Campus Security may be contacted at 604-822-2222, dialing 2-2222 if on an internal line, or using a Blue Phone. For faculty, staff, and student-staff, please dial 604-822-4444.

Remember to provide Campus Security with the following information:

  • Contact information (Name and phone number)
  • Faculty/department
  • Building/Location
  • Nature of the incident/injury

Once reported, please keep an eye out for our Campus Security patrol officers and vehicles. 

If you believe you have COVID-19 symptoms or been exposed to SARS-CoV-2, please use the Thrive Health self-assessment tool for guidance or through the BC COVID-19 Support App for their iOS or Android device, and follow the instructions provided.
